GEORGE TOWN: The state government has no money to give to the people as subsidy following the recent hike in the price of fuel, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said yesterday.
The only solution, he said, was for Petronas to share its profits with the people.
Lim said unless the Pakatan Rakyat states, including Penang, were given authority over Petronas, there was nothing much they could do.
"Give us power over Petronas and we will show you what we can do," he said after opening Tanjung member of parliament and Padang Kota assemblyman Chow Kon Yeow's service centre in Jalan Kedah here.
He was commenting on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's dare to the five Pakatan Rakyat states on Friday to reduce the fuel prices in areas under their control and not merely make promises.
